Here’s a home by an architect and designer, who’s work I very much admire – Eric Olson. I couldn’t really find any information about the house and the design process; so I am not sure if it was a remodel or new construction, but nevertheless, it is beautiful (and I am guessing it is a remodel). I am especially in love with the kitchen: the grey cabinets in a shaker style, the island, the mix of shiplap and board & batten wall paneling, and the dark hardwood floors in contrast to the neutral colors in the room. Eric Olsen’s team created a house that feels clean and airy, but at the same time very comfortable and cozy due to the many textures used throughout. It shows that simplicity can instill a lot of character if done right. Overall, a very nicely balanced design, which I am sure is well appreciated by the home owner. Enjoy the pictures, and I hope you’ll find some inspiration for your own design and/or home.

The use of board and batten as well as shiplap on the exterior and interior gives the home a lot texture and interest despite the lack of “color”. Eric Olsen’s team created a house that feels clean and airy, but at the same time very comfortable and cozy due to the many textures chosen throughout. The design is very soothing and has been one of my favorites for a long time.
