Inspired Dining Rooms

Design

Jan 15, 2022

It seems that 2022 may bring with it another year of entertaining for smaller groups at home. To us, that means more opportunities to work on beautiful and well thought out dining spaces. We’re super excited about what 2022 will bring and and are in full swing of sourcing lighting and furniture for our 2022 projects. We’re expecting to continue with muted color concepts this year but also include more dramatic and fun color palettes. The emphasis on texture as a way to add visual interest and depth remains strong this year.

These eleven dining rooms are currently at the top of our inspiration list. They’re both stylish and welcoming. We’d love to pull a seat up to any of these uniquely designed dining rooms.

Textural & Timeless

Modern farmhouse is all too common in our vernacular these days, but this dining room by Janette Mallory takes those basic modern farmhouse elements –– wood chairs, trestle table, banquette –– and completely elevates them. The chairs have a nod to midcentury design, while the cozy upholstery on the banquette begs you to sit and stay a while. The modern light fixture is unexpected, yet echoes the warm, textural appeal of the art and rug. The result is a room rooted in farmhouse design principles, but with a collected, sophisticated look.

Collectible Design

A restrained color selection creates a dramatic framework for this dining room designed by Heidi Callier Design. An abundance of collectible furniture and lighting from talented makers around the country brings a high-end look to this space that also feels warm and homy. Danish designed Moller chairs and a large-scale live edge BDDW Wishbone dining table create an earthy vibe, which is perfectly juxtaposed with a modern Apparatus Studio chandelier.

Artistic Elements in a Small Space

A small space doesn’t mean you can’t achieve high style. This Arent & Pyke- designed space brings architectural and artistic elements into a breakfast nook right off of the kitchen. With gallery-worthy furniture, a light fixture that transports us to a Miro-inspired world, and an incredible use of color that feels both bold and muted, this dining area proves that eye-catching design isn’t limited to large spaces.

Eclectic and Bold

Sometimes the best rooms come from throwing everything a client loves into one space and seeing what sticks. This eclectic room seems to do just that, and the end result is striking. Textured wallpaper, opulent molding, a chandelier of immense scale and light, sculptural art, patterned dining chairs, and a modern dining table –– everything is so different, yet it works.

High Ceiling drama

This Midcentury modern dining room stands out with its high ceilings and large gridded windows. Wishbone chairs in natural oak are contrasted against the black table, cabinetry, and windows. The balance of materials and colors is striking.

Garden-Inspired Dining

Industrial black panes, a dramatic painted floor, and a substantial pedestal dining table, all in shades of black, brown, and ivory, are the perfect foil to allow dining guests to focus on the lush gardens waiting just beyond the windows. This Charles Mellersh home in London blends modern shapes, approachable furniture design, and an artistic touch for an everyday dining space.

Parisian Style

Gallery-Worthy Dining

The minimalism and impressive scale of this Jaune Architecture dining room, which is directly connected to an equally stylish kitchen, makes dining feel more like an evening at an art gallery than another night at home. This Paris city apartment has massive windows, grand molding, and marble that commands a presence in the room. The dining table and chairs don’t need to make a statement –– the room already does –– but they are perfectly suited to the space in their simplicity.

Timeless Rustic Charm

If you’ve ever been told not to mix brown and black, this room will prove that old adage wrong. Amber Interiors brings together stunningly styled black built-ins with a contemporary take on Pierre Janneret inspired cane chairs, a slim lined dining table, and a timeless rug in shades of ivory and taupe. Add in eye-catching art and a subtle, but rustic, fireplace and you have us hoping for a dinner party invite.

Dramatic and Vintage Inspired

A dark red dining room is a classic statement, but this one has an updated feel thanks to this dramatic shade of merlot. With detailed molding and intricately laid wood floors, this dining room already has a stunning backdrop, but the simple, masculine lines of these vintage-inspired cane chairs, sculptural lighting, and a table made from recycled plastic make for a jaw dropping entertaining space.

The latest product knowledge and ability to pull it all together into a cohesive composition is wonderfully executed here.

Sophisticated Take on Midcentury

This dining room by Monica Fried Design puts the modern in midcentury modern. It takes all of the sophisticated, angular lines of midcentury style and pulls them together in a room that feels light, airy, and fresh. The upholstered chairs have an inviting shape that you can imagine relaxing into for a long holiday dinner, while the large table allows everyone to eat comfortably, while still having plenty of room to fill the table with beautiful tableware and serving pieces. This is a space that successfully blends both form and function.
